Fragments

|
|||
Now the world is torn to pieces,
Suffering that nothing eases.
What to do with all the sorrow?
Will I be alive tomorrow?
Do you see? Can you hear?
Words make everything unclear.
Don’t know what I should do.
Can I even see it through?
Tell me, what do you want from me
In our newfound reality?
Every day, a new tragedy.
Stunned and lost in anxiety.
Don’t go in.
Don’t go out.
Stay away.
Please don’t shout.
What a world, what a world,
What a world, what a world.
What a world that we’re living in.
When does sanity begin?
Patience gradually wearing thin.
Graciousness can be found within.
Now the world is torn to pieces,
Bitterness that nothing eases.
Look around and see the burning.
Listen well, you’ll hear the hurting.
Do you see? Can you hear?
Words make everything unclear.
Don’t know what I should do.
Can I even see it through?
Don’t go in.
Don’t go out.
Stay away.
Please don’t shout.
What a world, what a world,
What a world, what a world.
Tell me, what do you want from me
In our newfound reality?
Every day, a new tragedy.
Stunned and lost in anxiety.
What a world that we’re living in.
When does sanity begin?
Patience gradually wearing thin.
Tolerance can be found within.
Now the world is torn to pieces,
Loneliness that nothing eases.
Can we put away all the sadness?
Are we ready to stop the madness?
Now the world is torn to pieces,
Misery comes as it pleases.
Listen well, you’ll hear the crying.
In this world, there’s too much dying.
Do you see? Can you hear?
Words make everything unclear.
Don’t know what I should do.
Can I even see it through?
Don’t go in,
Don’t go out.
Decency can be found within.

Culture
05:43
|
|||
Reflection.
A crowded room, the hall of doom,
Strike up a tune, all hell is breaking loose.
Turn. That. Thing. Down!
Dejection.
An attitude but why so rude, and
Don’t you know this song grooves like a moose?
Turn. That. Thing. Down!
Depression.
No wish to play, in disarray.
No matter what, there’s really no excuse.
Turn. That. Thing. Down!
Confession.
Rejection is a culture that
We use for making art out of abuse.
And still,
We go on.
Where is Charity, the dancing, joyful Euphrosyne?
Instead there’s rancor,
A meanness spiked with
Incivility
That wears and drags us down
Until our will to carry on has gone.
But we’re a culture,
Music is the thing
That makes us strong.
We are a culture, carry on.
Music’s the thing
That makes us strong.
Though we may falter, will is gone.
We find a way to carry on.
When we’re not feeling very strong,
Culture’s the way to carry on.
Music’s a culture, on and on.
Gives us the strength to laugh and
Want to write
This song.

Dreamland

When the go-go day has come and
Through it all we run,
‘Til there is no more time for us
To stay.
Will we finally decide
To give up on this ride
And settle in for one sweet night of sleep?
As the night begins,
Liquid dreams pour down around me.
What a place to hide from all that’s
Broken every day.
In a perfect world there’d be no more tears or sadness.
It’s just a dream, what can I say?
To this wanting world we’re born,
Pay tribute to the morn until we learn
The power of sleep
To calm,
Our worries to allay,
Soothe all our cares away,
Do anything for one sweet night of sleep.
As the night begins,
Liquid dreams pour down around me.
What a place to hide from all that’s
Broken every day.
In a perfect world there’d be no more tears or sadness.
It’s just a dream, what can I say?
In the land of dreams, we are travelers.
Dancing through enchanted forests,
Taking Daddy’s hand.
How we long to be in the land of dreams.
Flying through enchanted forests,
Taking Daddy’s hand.
Come along with me to Dreamland
Come along with me to Dreamland
Come along with me to Dreamland
Come along with me.
Come along with me to Dreamland
Come along with me to Dreamland
Come along with me to Dreamland
Come along with me.
As the night begins, liquid dreams pour down around me.
What a place to hide from all that’s
Broken every day.
In a perfect world, there’d be no more tears or sadness.
It’s just a dream, what can I say?
Someday, maybe we will find
That we have left behind
The madness and the aggravation.
We may learn to live as one, but
When we come undone, then
We will still need one sweet night of sleep.
As the night begins,
Liquid dreams pour down around me.
What a place to hide from all that’s
Broken every day.
In a perfect world, there’d be no more tears or sadness.
It’s just a dream, what can I say?

Victory
06:36
|
|||
It’s finally time to live again.
The darkness lifts and joy ascends.
I’ll want you there with me, my friend.
Our victory has no end.
It seems a long, long time ago,
Deep water came and overflowed.
And why it stays, I just don’t know.
Can’t seem to let it go.
Two voices speak…
First says the worst is far behind.
But the other cries out
Hope is much too hard to find.
From the craggy depths,
This battle rages in my mind.
Which will decide?
It’s finally time to live again.
The darkness lifts and joy ascends.
I’ll want you there with me, my friend.
Our victory has no end.
Although it’s been a long, hard road,
We finally made it to the show.
It’s time to shine and now we know
Our victory’s a moonbow.
It’s finally time to live again.
The darkness lifts and joy ascends.
I’ll want you there with me, my friend.
Our victory has no end.

The Longing
04:06
|

A wanderer out in the snow,
It’s dark
And it’s wet
And it’s cold.
A hunger so brutal and keen,
Alone under tall evergreens.

Cat Lung
05:33
|
|||
You have Cat Lung,
Stick out your tongue.
You have Cat Lung.
Coughing, choking,
Cat Lung! Cat Lung!
There is no cure.
Cat Lung! Cat Lung! Cat Lung!
We can’t cure you,
or re-assure you.
How’d you get it?
You might ask.
Cleaning cat box,
Dirty task.
Breathing dust, breathing dust,
Breathing dust.
Now you must
Wear a mask.
You should have worn a mask.
It’s too late,
You should have worn a mask.
You have Cat Lung,
It spreads among
Cat box keepers.
Coughing, choking.
Cat Lung! Cat Lung!
There is no cure.
Cat Lung! Cat Lung! Cat Lung!
Silicosis.
Cat box closeness.
Can’t you cure it?
You might ask.
Take a swig
From this flask.
Breathing dust, breathing dust,
Breathing dust, breathing dust.
Worn a mask.
You should have worn a mask.
It’s too late,
You should have worn a mask.
Cat Lung is a condition characterized by
Difficulty breathing due to
Particles of silicone,
Airborne harbingers of doom.
Emphysema, sinus too.
Cat Lung coming to claim you.
There is no cure
For Cat Lung.
We have Cat Lung,
Coming unstrung.
We have Cat Lung,
Coughing, choking.
Cat Lung! Cat Lung!
There is no cure.
Cat Lung! Cat Lung! Cat Lung!
They can’t cure us,
Or re-assure us.
Eyes will water as you hack.
Cleaning cat box,
Dirty task.
Breathing dust, breathing dust,
Breathing dust
Now we must
Wear a mask.
We should have worn a mask.
It’s too late,
We should have worn a mask.
We have Cat Lung,
Flinging cat dung.
Dust gets far flung.
Coughing, choking,
Cat Lung! Cat Lung!

Raw Deal
05:56
|
|||
I have been dealt a handful of shit.
That’s right!
And my heart has taken a hit,
A heavy hit.
Everyone has a tragedy in their own family,
But I wouldn’t wish mine on anyone not even
My own worst enemy.
As I sit in the corner
And try not to weep.
These promises have been made,
I know I must keep.
This unfinished business is set
To be done.
These things are a tribute
To my wife and my son.
I have been dealt a handful of shit.
That’s right!
And my heart has taken a hit,
A heavy hit.
Everyone has a tragedy in their own family,
But I wouldn’t wish mine on anyone not even
My own worst enemy.

Gravity
04:38
|
|||
You threw me out the airlock
With a smile on your face.
You said “It doesn’t matter, you’re not human anyway.”
Now I’m out here floating
Just outside LeGrange.
They got a lotta nice girlbots
If you’re a guy who can afford to pay.
Ooh Babe, what happens now?
Gravity is pulling me
Since you pushed me out.
My builders always claimed
That violent guys like you
Still need an outlet for their kink
If they can afford it, too.
And human girls on any world
Won’t need to bear the brunt.
But as an AI girl floating in the dark I think you are a...
Ooh Babe, what happens now?
Gravity is pulling me
Since you pushed me out.
My power plant has ruptured and I’m
Leaking isotopes.
My chassis is immobile now,
No more dreams or hopes.
Just one more piece of jetsam
Among orbital debris.
When you folks look up from down there
That shooting star is me.
Ooh Babe, it’s much hotter now.
Gravity is pulling me
Since you pushed me out.

Part I: The Farm
On a hilltop farm,
in a lonely barn,
Alice stakes a claim.
Emerald eyes, teal skies,
all she sees is her domain.
She wakes and sets out at sunrise,
To see what she can see.
Flicks her tail and hones her claws
On an old birch tree.
Alice finds some soft grass
and lays out in the sun
Until a rabbit passes by,
And she begins to run.
Alice is out there, a mystical cat.
Anna’s protector, her dark acrobat.
From Pohjola, the souls call to you,
Alice, will they find their way through?
Greybeard formed her kindly,
Breathed life on a warm stone floor.
Viper claws, wolf jaws, a hunter
Behind the barn door.
She spends her days chasing fat mice,
and sunbeams on the wall.
Nights are spent by the river,
Swatting voles
Where the barred owl calls.
Anna waits by the window
To see her friend return.
Alice patters gently,
Moving past the lady fern.
Alice is out there, a mystical cat.
Anna’s protector, her dark acrobat.
From Pohjola, the souls call to you,
Alice, will they find their way through?
Will-o-wisps call softly
All along the riverbed.
Water’s dark and murky,
So be careful where you tread.
Sun sets ever lower
As she goes along her way.
Pohjola grows closer,
And then she slips away.
Part II: Aliisa-Kissa
Aliisa-Kissa,
Aliisa-Kissa,
Aliisa-Kissa,
Aliisa-Kissa.
Alice is out there, a mystical cat.
Anna’s protector, her dark acrobat.
From Pohjola, the souls call to you.
Alice, you must lead them through.
Part III: Tuonela
The Other Air, the rootless waiting,
Breathing souls
Stranded in the half-light, ‘midst a
Burning shoal.
A cold and cloudless night,
Coyotes on the moor.
Anna waits but Alice will come home no more,
Home no more.
Alice, sacred traveler, we are yearning for
Someone who will lead us through
The open door.
Alice, can you help and guide us evermore?
We are sad and weary, take us to the shore
Of Tuonela!
We’ll rest and leave our worries here
in Tuonela.
Our worldly cares all disappear
in Tuonela.
The white swan circles ever near
in Tuonela,
And sadly sings her
Wondrous songs of Tuonela,
Tuonela!
